Description

In this community lived a rat, a beetle called Booky Man, two lizards and a bug. Booky Man, the beetle, liked to have everything clean and promised the rat to help her clean the streets, but the two lizards are always chasing Booky. Booky must go through the tunnels to avoid the attacks of the lizards or use the sweeping brush to chase the Lizards home and kill the bug, who dirties the streets.

Brush Roller is a clone of “Make Trax” also known as Crush Roller in Japan, developed by Kural Samno in 1981. Brush Roller was produced by Hwang Shinwei in 1990. The game can be found in multi-game cartridges and was sold on Brazil in single cartridge by CCE.

Booky Man

Overview & History

Released exclusively for the Nintendo Entertainment System by Sachen in 1992, Booky Man is an obscure, unlicensed platform-puzzle hybrid that channels the frantic arcade energy of Namco’s classic Pac-Man, but wraps it in a whimsical, library-themed universe. Players take on the role of a scholarly protagonist trapped inside a sprawling, animated labyrinth of cursed bookshelves and ancient tomes. Because Sachen titles were notorious for limited print runs and distribution outside of traditional licensee channels, this game has evolved into a fascinating, highly sought-after curio for retro collectors and enthusiasts of untamed 8-bit software development.

Gameplay Features & Mechanics

Unlike standard scrolling platformers, Booky Man requires players to clear single-screen stages by navigating intricate mazes of glowing text and leather-bound ledges. Your core objective is to collect every scattered bookmark and floating manuscript page while dodging an eclectic roster of anthropomorphic school supplies, aggressive ink blots, and nocturnal library phantoms. To survive, Booky Man can drop magical ink-traps to temporarily stun pursuing enemies or trigger page-flipping hazards that alter the labyrinth layout in real-time. Power-ups spawn periodically, granting temporary invincibility manifested as a protective aura of glowing encyclopedias. The difficulty ramps up sharply across subsequent chapters, demanding precise pathfinding, lightning-fast reflexes, and a strategic understanding of enemy patrolling AI to prevent dead-ends.
