Description

The game is a recreation of the original Boogerman, but is considerably less faithful than Boogerman II: The Final Adventure, with a mixed-up level order and severely limited abilities for the player, which is compensated for by providing infinite ammo.

Like many of Super Game’s other bootlegs, this game has no ending; after the player defeats the third boss, the game merely resets.

Boogerman

Overview & History

Originally released by Interplay for the Sega Genesis and SNES in 1994, *Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure* tells the bizarre tale of Professor Swift, who invents a machine to dispose of humanity's trash in the dimension of Dimension X-Crement. When the evil Booger Meister sabotages the device, Swift transforms into the heroic, mucus-slinging vigilante Boogerman. Though the title never received an official, licensed release by Interplay for the Nintendo Entertainment System during its 8-bit commercial heyday, homebrew developers and NES enthusiasts have long revered the platforming aesthetic, inspiring custom demakes and adaptations that capture the chaotic, gross-out humor of the 1990s anti-hero era.

Gameplay Features & Mechanics

The gameplay is a quintessential side-scrolling platformer featuring multiple putrid worlds filled with bottomless pits, dripping green sludge, and surreal, mucus-themed enemies. Players navigate Boogerman through hazardous environments—ranging from the Pits of Puke to the Pus-Filled Sewers—while collecting scattered red capes to restore health and gathering magical snot drops. Boogerman relies on a uniquely disgusting arsenal of combat moves: he can whip enemies with his bare hands, flick boogers as a projectile attack, unleash powerful burps to clear the screen, and drop explosive gas bombs. Additionally, he can dive headfirst into massive piles of refuse to unearth hidden power-ups and secret bonus areas, blending standard precision platforming with delightfully juvenile slapstick humor.
