Gather up three of your best (or preferably worst) friends for the newest game by RetroZone, Jolly Joyriding!!!, a four-player drunken bumper car present throwing fest!

While everyone is drunk on egg nog trip out to the colorful blinky lights that surround the edge of the cart! Top loader recommended to see the pretty colors, but front loader looks cool too. When you score a point, the cart changes to your player color!

8-Bit Xmas 2010

Overview & History

Developed by the homebrew collective RetroZone (now Infinite NES Lives), 8-Bit Xmas 2010 represents a cherished tradition among NES enthusiasts: the release of physical, limited-edition holiday cartridges complete with blinking LEDs and custom PCB boards. Released in December 2010, this specific installment stepped away from pure tech demos to deliver a complete, highly polished arcade-style platformer. The storyline whimsically casts players as a rogue, gift-delivering elf tasked with saving the North Pole's automated toy-assembly line after a catastrophic batch of robotic nutcrackers goes haywire. Packaged in a translucent red cartridge that famously lit up with festive green and red flashes during gameplay, this homebrew title pushes the authentic NES PPU and CPU limits with vibrant winter palettes, multi-layered parallax snow effects, and a surprisingly robust chiptune soundtrack featuring heavily rearranged holiday classics.

Gameplay Features & Mechanics

Gameplay unfolds across five fast-paced stages, ranging from the frantic Toy Workshop to the treacherous Ice Caverns and Santa's rooftop launchpad. Unlike passive holiday demos, 8-Bit Xmas 2010 gives your elf protagonist an active offensive toolkit. You start armed with standard candy-cane boomerangs that can be thrown horizontally or crouch-tossed to clear low-slung mechanical mice and disgruntled snowmen. Throughout the levels, players can collect golden ornaments to trigger a temporary "Sugar Rush" invincibility state, or pick up special peppermint-bomb power-ups that clear the entire screen of enemies. Movement requires precise inertia control: stopping on icy platforms takes deliberate anticipation, and mastering the momentum-based double-jump is essential for clearing bottomless pits filled with jagged icicles. Boss encounters at the end of every second stage require pattern memorization, culminating in a frantic final showdown against a hacked, steam-powered Santa mech.
