Description

Sofel takes life simulation into the future with Klashball, for the NES. In a stadium hundreds of years from now, techno-gladiators do battle, combining contact with speed and finesse. Two five-man teams go for it, each fighting to deliver a three-kilo metallic energy sphere into the opponents goal zone. Teams challenge each other in a surreal arena that utilizes devices such as a warp tunnel, ball launcher, and magnetically charged bounce domes. Klashball features a complete league system. There are 11 rowdy teams, each with unique skills, strengths, and weaknesses. After each match the central computer analyzes the outcome and records the stats. Play against the computer or klash it out with a friend. If you’re ready, take a trip into the 23rd century with Klashball. A game so real, it’s in your face!

Klash Ball

Overview & History

Released by Hot B in 1991 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, Klash Ball is a brutal, futuristic sports title set in the year 2042 where traditional football has evolved into a lethal gladiatorial contest. Blending top-down strategy with high-impact arcade action, the game drops players into blood-soaked cybernetic arenas. Teams of heavily armored cyborgs and mutants battle viciously to hurl a heavy metal sphere into a glowing goal. Unlike standard sports games of its era, survival is just as important as scoring, forcing players to master both brutal combat and tight ball-handling to dominate the intergalactic league.

Gameplay Features & Mechanics

Gameplay unfolds from a slanted, top-down perspective, emphasizing aggressive positioning and arena control. Matches are played in enclosed, hazard-filled domes where players can slam opponents against electrified walls or utilize dirty hits to cause permanent damage and temporary player eliminations. Teams boast distinct attributes in speed, armor, and punching power, requiring tactical management during substitutions. Mechanics revolve around a fast-paced tug-of-war: players must gracefully weave past defenders, execute slide tackles, deliver punishing face-punches to steal the sphere, and unleash charged throws directly at the opponent's goal or the opposing team's chest plates.
