Featuring platform level designs based on classic Stooge scenes from their many TV episodes and movies and level objectives re-living many of their antics plus original Stooge voices and Stooge trivia.

The Three Stooges

Released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989, The Three Stooges is a unique cinematic board game and action title developed by Cinemaware and ported by Beam Software. Based on the iconic slapstick comedy trio, the game tasks players with helping Moe, Larry, and Curly save Ma's Orphanage from foreclosure by the ruthless banker, I.M. Greedy. The Stooges have exactly 30 in-game days to raise $5,000 through a series of chaotic jobs and mini-games, perfectly capturing the humor of the classic Columbia Pictures shorts.

Gameplay Features & Mechanics

Gameplay is structured around a daily calendar map where a spinning hand decides the trio's next event. Players must land on active tiles to earn cash while avoiding mouse traps that can injure the Stooges' fingers. The game features several distinct mini-games: in the oyster soup game, Curly must grab floating crackers while avoiding a snapping oyster; the pie fight transforms a high-society dinner into a first-person pastry barrage; and the hospital run requires steering a gurney down a corridor to collect medical supplies. Moe can also slap Larry and Curly to keep them focused, or players can answer Stooges trivia questions to earn bonus cash. If the 30-day limit expires without reaching the financial goal, the game ends in defeat.

Keyboard Controls

Arrow Keys / D-Pad: Move characters, steer the hospital gurney, and aim the pie-throwing crosshair.
A / B Keys (Action Keys): Slap Larry or Curly, throw pies, grab soup crackers, and select trivia answers.
Enter (Start): Spin the calendar selection hand, pause the game, and skip dialogue.
Space (Select): Cycle through game options on the title screen.
