The storyline faithfully adapts the 1992 animated film, following the street rat Aladdin as he navigates the bustling alleys of Agrabah, outwits guards in the Cave of Wonders, and ultimately rescues Princess Jasmine from the wicked clutches of the Grand Vizier, Jafar. Unlike traditional sword-wielding heroes, Aladdin initially defends himself with a scimitar for close-range melee strikes and hurls gravity-defying apples to stun guards, bats, and skeleton monkeys from a distance. The game emphasizes momentum and verticality; players can vault off awnings, shimmy across high ledges, swing from ropes, and bounce on cloth-covered canopies. Gems scattered throughout the levels act as currency to trade with the street merchant for extra lives and continues, while genie-head tokens serve as checkpoints. Hidden bonus stages, such as Abu's fruit-catching minigame and the Spin-the-Wheel stage hosted by the Genie, offer vital extra supplies. The most infamous mechanical highlight is the Cave of Wonders escape sequence, where Aladdin must frantically ride a magic carpet upward to outrun a surging wall of lava and collapsing rock obstacles, demanding razor-sharp reflexes and memorization.
