Released in the twilight years of the 16-bit era, *Old Towers* is a charmingly obscure platform-puzzle hybrid originally developed for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. Eschewing the fast-paced action typical of the console's library, this title challenges players with meticulous architectural navigation and physics-based block manipulation. You control a diminutive, adventurous explorer tasked with ascending a series of crumbling, trap-laden medieval citadels to recover lost royal artifacts. Despite its late release and limited initial print runs—which made physical cartridges a holy grail for collectors—the game gained a cult following for its distinct blend of Sokoban-style logic puzzles and traditional platforming exploration across dozens of increasingly devious vertical stages.

Unlike standard platformers where reflexes reign supreme, *Old Towers* demands intellectual precision. Each level is a vertically oriented screen filled with crumbling masonry, rogue gargoyles, locked doors, and movable boulders. Your character must clear paths by pushing blocks, bridging gaps, and activating pressure plates without getting crushed or trapping yourself in dead ends. The core hook lies in managing structural integrity; destroying the wrong tile might permanently seal off the exit or block access to essential keys. Enemies patrolling the ledges require clever timing to avoid or trap, as direct combat is virtually nonexistent.
