Lego Batman is an unlicensed platformer based on the 2008 J2ME version of Lego Batman: The Mobile Game, released in Russia for the Sega Mega Drive in 2014 by BMB.

The game plays much similar to Lego Batman: The Mobile Game. The player plays as Batman and the objective is to collect gears. The enemies are Riddler Goons, Criminals, and Santa Goons. Studs (which were most likely drawn from scratch) are in the game too. If 200 are collected an extra life is earned. They can also earn extra lives which are batman symbols. Oddly, the ending of the game has the player save Santa Claus. There are no continues.

While Traveller's Tales officially released the blockbuster *LEGO Batman: The Videogame* on modern consoles in 2008, unlicensed developers engineered this unique 2D demake for Sega’s aging console. Utilizing modified Genesis engine architecture, sprites, and chiptune sound drivers, this unauthorized cartridge captured the imagination of retro collectors by imagining how the Caped Crusader's blocky adventures might have looked in 1993.

Gameplay Features & Mechanics

Unlike the sprawling 3D open-worlds of later official titles, this Genesis adaptation plays as a gritty, linear 2D side-scrolling platformer reminiscent of *Batman Returns* or *Castlevania*. Players navigate through industrial Gotham rooftops, sewers, and Arkham Asylum, dodging hazards while collecting iconic LEGO studs for points and extra lives. The storyline loosely follows Batman tracking down the Joker and The Penguin across dark, rain-slicked stages rendered in chunky, high-contrast pixel art. Combat is straightforward yet demanding, requiring precise timing as Batman utilizes a close-range punch combo and his trusty Batarang for projectile attacks against waves of mobsters and iconic supervillains.
