Released by Telegames and developed by Headstrong Games in 1993 for the Sega Genesis (alongside a Super Nintendo counterpart), Pink Goes to Hollywood casts players as the iconic, suave animated feline, the Pink Panther. The storyline finds Pink sneaking onto a sprawling Hollywood studio backlot, eager to star in his own motion picture. However, the jealous Inspector Clouseau is hot on his tail, trying to sabotage his cinematic aspirations across a series of iconic movie-themed sets ranging from pirate coves to sci-fi soundstages. The game captures the classic DePatie-Freleng theatrical cartoon aesthetic with vibrant, pastel-heavy sprite work and jazzy chiptune renditions of Henry Mancini's legendary theme music.

Gameplay Features & Mechanics

Pink navigates sideways-scrolling platforming environments populated by movie-themed hazards, rogue props, and Clouseau's stumbling police officers. Unlike standard platform heroes who rely on jumping on enemies, Pink utilizes a clever arsenal of cinematic and gag-based tools. Players can whip out a walking cane to swat foes, deploy pies to throw at oncoming threats, or use a camera to flash enemies temporarily out of existence. Navigating the levels requires precise platforming over rolling film strips, moving studio lights, and treacherous pit traps. Pink must collect gold film canisters hidden throughout each lot to unlock studio doors, while dodging hazards that drain his health meter, depicted by classic cartoon band-aids.
