Description

In Dukes of Hazzard II: Daisy Dukes it Out, it will take a player’s racing prowess and lead foot to make it through the pitfalls and troubles of this dusty country county. Players will control either the Duke boys in their high-powered General Lee or Daisy in her jeep as they sweep through the dirt roads and downtown of Hazzard. Levels alternate between the two vehicles, and the objectives you must complete are varied as well. You might find yourself outrunning the law or perhaps showing someone the sights in Hazzard. You might even deliver some mail, but eventually you’ll get down to some good, old-fashioned crime fighting.

The Dukes of Hazzard II: Daisy Dukes it Out

Overview & History

Developed by Midway and released exclusively for the coin-op arcade scene in 2004, The Dukes of Hazzard II: Daisy Dukes it Out is a bizarre and fascinating footnote in arcade history. Following up on the earlier vehicular-combat title, this sequel shifts away from pure driving simulation to embrace a strange hybrid of on-foot beat-'em-up action and vehicular chase sequences. Set in the fictional Hazzard County, the storyline revolves around Boss Hogg's latest nefarious real-estate scheme, framing the Duke family for a crime they didn't commit. Players must clear their names by brawling through corrupt deputies, smashing moonshine stills, and ultimately putting Boss Hogg and Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane out of commission across various episodic stages.

Gameplay Features & Mechanics

Unlike its predecessor, Daisy Dukes it Out gives the spotlight firmly to the titular character, allowing players to control Daisy Duke, Bo Duke, and Luke Duke in frantic arcade combat. The game transitions between two distinct styles of play: isometric brawler segments where characters use improvised weapons, martial arts, and southern charm to take down Enos's goons, and fast-paced driving stages behind the wheel of the General Lee. Character moves are distinct; Daisy utilizes high-flying acrobatic kicks and a devastating slap attack, while Bo and Luke rely on heavy-hitting brawn and tackle maneuvers. Special "Hazzard Meter" attacks clear the screen with explosive stunts involving Cooter's garage equipment. The arcade cabinet is particularly notable for featuring force-feedback steering wheels alongside traditional arcade joysticks for the driving transitions, making it a uniquely tactile quarter-muncher of the mid-2000s era.
