Description

Because of his envy of Frogger’s achievements and the attention he receives, Swampy the Crocodile hatches a devious scheme to invade his pond and kidnap Lillie Frog’s brothers and sisters. What a vile crocodile! Assuming the role of the vengeful frog, you must thwart the evil crocodile and save the innocent tadpoles from harm.

Divided into various interactive 3D worlds, Frogger’s mission spans over 30 levels crammed with life threatening obstacles and monstrous cronies blocking the path to victory. Fortunately, the frog has been endowed with supreme powers including regular hops and super-hops, the ability to float over water and land, a Power Croak for calling missing tadpoles and a bug-seeking tongue.

Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge

Overview & History

Released by Hasbro Interactive in the year 2000, Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge successfully modernized the iconic 1981 arcade formula by shifting from static, single-screen grid navigation into a dynamic, isometric 3D platforming adventure. While the original game simply tasked players with crossing a highway and a river, this sequel injected a full narrative arc. The wicked alligator Swampy has kidnapped Frogger's niece and nephew—Lilly and Timmy—along with his girlfriend, and dragged them deep into the hazardous swamps, dark sewers, and perilous volcano interiors. As Frogger, players must traverse a series of richly detailed, scrolling environments to rescue the tadpoles before Swampy’s evil plot comes to fruition. Though initially launched for home consoles and PC, its arcade-style pacing, frantic stage hazards, and score-chasing collectathons made it a natural fit for arcade emulation platforms.

Gameplay Features & Mechanics

Unlike its predecessor's strict grid-based movement, Swampy's Revenge utilizes smooth, tile-less analog navigation within a 3D isometric perspective. Players must master a robust repertoire of froggy abilities: standard hops, long-range leaps, tongue lashes to snatch power-ups or defeat enemies, and swimming mechanics for deep-water sections. Each level is packed with interactive hazards ranging from spinning gears and electric currents to snapping turtles and robotic hazards. To clear a stage, Frogger must rescue the hidden baby frogs scattered across treacherous pathways and safely guide them to designated exits while avoiding environmental traps. The game also introduces fast-paced cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes, adding tremendous replay value to the frantic arcade action.
