Released to arcades in 1999 by Midway Games, *Armorines: Project S.W.A.R.M.* is a sci-fi run-and-gun shooter spin-off based loosely on the Valiant Comics universe. Unlike its home console counterparts on the Nintendo 64 and PlayStation, the arcade iteration leans heavily into fast-paced, co-op arcade action. The storyline thrusts players into the boots of elite mechanized Marines tasked with stopping a massive, terrestrial invasion of mutated, highly aggressive alien arachnids known as the "Swarm." Players battle through treacherous subterranean facilities, dense alien jungles, and ruined cities to neutralize the queen-class threat.

Gameplay Features & Mechanics

The arcade version utilizes a frantic, multi-directional scrolling mechanic combined with intense projectile combat. Players can choose between two distinct Armorines, each equipped with heavy exoskeleton suits and customizable heavy artillery.
