Ever feel like betting on yourself in a high-speed race? Well Roadsters gives you that opportunity. In a racing game featuring ten tracks with thirty different cars, Titus has made a game where being the best driver does not necessarily ensure success. You also need the cash flow!

When the game begins you have $50,000. You select a car from an assortment of vehicles in various price ranges and a driver from a pool of contestants. Once you have your car, you are allowed to upgrade it (assuming you have enough cash left). Eventually, you will get to the racing. The Roadster Trophy, your goal, has three divisions. You begin in Division 3 and work your way up by earning money from bets and finishes.

Prior to each race you are allowed to bet on the outcome. If you win, you double your money. Also, prize money is paid out to the top few finishers. Once you acquire a certain amount of money, you are able to move on to the next level.

Unfortunately you can’t just keep stockpiling your cash. You will need to pay to upgrade your car in order to stay competitive. You can improve your tires, your gearbox, your turbo and so forth.

Other modes include multi-player, quick race, and time trial.

Released in 1999 by Titus Software, Roadsters (also known as Roadsters Trophy) revved up the arcade and console racing scene with a distinct, high-octane global tour. Diverging from traditional simulation racers, this title transports players into an adrenaline-fueled underground circuit spanning diverse international locales like San Francisco, Rome, and Tokyo. The game's narrative revolves around rising through the ranks of an elite racing syndicate, where drivers must earn cash, upgrade exotic supercars, and dominate rival racers across chaotic street and track circuits. While initially making waves on home consoles, its arcade roots shine through its aggressive rubber-band AI, time-attack pressure, and unabashed focus on arcade-style thrills over realistic physics.

Gameplay Features & Mechanics

Unlike standard racers, Roadsters integrates combat and aggressive driving directly into its core mechanics. Players can select from a colorful roster of international drivers, each paired with customizable vehicles that feature distinct stats in top speed, acceleration, and handling. The gameplay relies heavily on drafting, strategic use of nitro boosts, and physical car-to-car combat. Players can sideswipe opponents to send them spinning into obstacles or barriers, gaining a tactical advantage on tight hairpin turns. Cash earned from podium finishes can be pumped directly into engine overhauls, tire upgrades, and visual body kits. The game features multiple modes, including a robust Championship mode, Time Attack, and split-screen multiplayer, ensuring high replayability through its unforgiving difficulty curve and unpredictable track layouts filled with dynamic hazards and hidden shortcuts.
