Ultimately exhilarating! XI [sai] is back and bigger than ever! This time, the Aquis are a bit different. Now they can jump, lift, and create reserved chains! New types of actions are possible with simple controls! Three completely redesigned, full-featured modes are included! There’s even your own private Aqui room where fights, events, and dancing await. With all the new features and modes, this game can only be described as JUMBO! Gigantic jumbo dice appear to make your life miserable!

Special note for those of you who have only played Devil Dice: the main change in this version is throwing, and not just throwing die but also throwing the other player! It can be a little tricky to get this right and expect to make a few mistakes early on. What you want to do is stand on the side of the dice you want to pick up, then pick it up and face the direction you want to throw it. Additionally, you can now jump. This means that if you want to not roll a rice to an empty space you can actually jump off the edge to the other side.

XI [Sái]: Jumbo

Released in Japanese arcades in 1999 on the Namco System 12 hardware, XI [Sái]: Jumbo (known internationally as Devil Dice Jumbo) is the definitive arcade refinement of Shift’s acclaimed action-puzzle franchise. Standing out from traditional falling-block puzzles, the game places players in control of whimsical, pint-sized devil characters—such as the iconic Aki—who must navigate a shifting grid of giant, rolling dice. This arcade iteration expanded on the original PlayStation classic by introducing highly competitive multiplayer modes, enhanced visual flair, and refined physics.

Gameplay Features & Mechanics

The core gameplay of XI [Sái]: Jumbo revolves around spatial logic, quick reflexes, and three-dimensional grid movement. Instead of manipulating falling tiles, you control a character who runs across the tops of 3D dice to roll them, or drops down to the board's surface to push them. The objective is to match adjacent dice by their top face value; for example, you must group three dice showing "3", four showing "4", or five showing "5". Once a match is made, the dice slowly sink into the grid. During this sinking animation, players can chain additional dice of the same value or use a single "1" die to trigger massive, screen-clearing point multipliers. The "Jumbo" edition introduces oversized Jumbo Dice, which require extra effort to roll but can crush standard dice and create massive chain reactions. Mastering character moves, such as hopping across gaps between dice and pivoting a die on its edge, is crucial for survival as the grid speed increases.
