Description

Motorhead is a futuristic racing title featuring a total of ten playable cars on eight twisting courses, ranging from an industrial area to a desert. Each vehicle is individually rated in speed, acceleration, and grip. There are no weapons or power-ups to collect; it’s just you, a friend, or the computer competing for the fastest time. Four play modes include Time Attack, League, Head-to-Head, and Single Race. Each mode offers the option to view the action at 30 or 60 frames per second, with the key difference being the number of computer-controlled cars on the track.

Motorhead

Released by Sega in 1992 on their advanced System 32 arcade hardware, *Motorhead* is a visually striking, hidden gem of the cooperative beat 'em up genre. The game plunges players into a gritty, neon-soaked cyberpunk future where traditional law enforcement has crumbled. Taking control of rebellious vigilantes equipped with experimental, rocket-powered motorized roller-boots, players must skate through hazardous urban sectors to dismantle a ruthless criminal syndicate led by the villainous mastermind, Gisburn.

Gameplay Features & Mechanics

The core gameplay mechanics of *Motorhead* revolve around intense speed and kinetic momentum. Thanks to the motorized skates, movement is incredibly fluid, allowing players to glide across the screen and weave through enemy hordes. Players can choose between distinct fighters, each possessing a unique moveset; one focuses on raw power and heavy-hitting clotheslines, while the other utilizes agile, acrobatic flips. Combat actions include sliding tackle sweeps, mid-air spinning kicks, and powerful grapple throws. Throughout the multi-layered stages, players must dodge oncoming traffic, leap over industrial hazards, and collect temporary weapon pickups. The combat engine highly rewards speed, as building up skating momentum increases the impact of your dash attacks, which is essential for taking down the heavily armored, screen-filling bosses.
