Description

Legends tell of an invincible martial art known as Mutsu Enmei-Ryu, an unarmed style that allows the user to defeat any number of armed opponents using incredible speed and strength. This is the story of three generations of those who bear the name Mutsu, and their encounters and battles with the strongest fighters of their era.

The story is about Mutsu Tsukumo, a young and normal looking youth who challenges great foes to prove that his style of fighting is the best in the world. His Ryuha, or fighting style is called Mutsu Enmei Ryu. A style that is said to have never lost in its 1000 year history. Tsukumo not yet a perfect fighter also increases his strength as the story progresses.

Shura no Mon

Released by Sega in 1998 for the ST-V arcade system, Shura no Mon is a highly faithful 2D fighting game adaptation of Masatoshi Kawahara's legendary martial arts manga. The narrative follows Tsukumo Mutsu, the heir to Mutsu Enmei-ryu—a lethal, weaponless martial art that has remained undefeated for a millennium. To prove his style's absolute supremacy, Tsukumo battles top-tier world champions from karate, boxing, and pro-wrestling. Visually, the game shines with beautifully detailed 2D sprites that capture the gritty, realistic aesthetic of the manga. It remains a hidden gem of the late-90s arcade era, praised by fighting game enthusiasts for its grounded atmosphere and deep respect for the source material.

Gameplay Features & Mechanics

The gameplay eschews flashy projectile combat in favor of realistic, close-quarters tactical engagement. Mechanics heavily emphasize spacing, physical blocking, and sudden, high-damage reversals. The roster features diverse combatants, including karate champion Ryoji Arihata and the agile, technical wrestler Jibei. Characters boast highly specialized movesets; Tsukumo, for instance, utilizes the armor-piercing Ryuhasou (Dragon Wave Claw) to shatter guards, and the crushing Kongou (Vajra) counter-strike to punish aggressive opponents. A specialized "Ki" meter governs special move enhancement, allowing players to unleash cinematic super arts when maxed out. Strategic defense is balanced by a strict Guard Crush system, ensuring bouts remain fast-paced, intense, and deeply punishing.

Keyboard Controls

Arrow Keys / D-Pad: Move left/right, crouch to avoid high attacks, and jump to launch aerial strikes.
Action Keys: Use Z/X for light/heavy punches and C/V for light/heavy kicks; combine keys to execute special command grabs and advanced counters.
Enter: Start the match or pause the intense hand-to-hand combat.
