The player takes on the role of the A.B. (Air Bike) Cop who must chase down and destroy the perpetrators of various criminals (that changes every level) before the time limit expires. A.B Cop introduced an element new to the racing genre: the end-of-level guardian.

Cop: Air Bike* is a cult-classic futuristic vehicular combat game that blends high-speed racing with aggressive combat. The storyline casts players as elite cybernetic law enforcement officers piloting cutting-edge, anti-gravity hoverbikes known as "Air Bikes." Your mission is to patrol the neon-drenched megacity highways, intercepting rogue syndicate bosses, high-tech hijackers, and anarchist gangs before they detonate city infrastructure. Distinguished by its scaled-sprite pseudo-3D perspective—similar to Sega's own *OutRun* and *Super Hang-On*—the game distinguishes itself by prioritizing combat over mere time-trial racing.

Gameplay Features & Mechanics

Gameplay unfolds across a series of sprawling, vertically scrolling highway stages where maintaining top speed is just as crucial as annihilating opposition. Unlike standard racing titles, your Air Bike is equipped with heavy-duty weaponry. Players must ram, shoot, and blast rival bikers and armed transport trucks while dodging civilian traffic, oil slicks, and barricades. As you progress, you face massive, multi-tiered boss vehicles at the end of each sector. The character maneuvers include tight drifting around sharp highway bends, a mid-air turbo boost for clearing immense gaps, and a devastating side-swipe attack that forces enemy riders into guardrails. Health is tied to your bike's shield integrity, meaning reckless driving and taking too many enemy hits will result in a fiery explosion and a lost life.
