Description

Nemo travels with a circus parade to Slumberland to meet King Morpheus. He is accompanied by Flip to fight through the now-dangerous enemy-infested Slumberland to find the king. At the heart of the kingdom, Flip tempts Nemo to open the sealed door, unleashing the Nightmare King, who kidnaps Morpheus along with his daughter Princess Camille.

Nemo

Released by Capcom in 1990 on their legendary CP System arcade hardware, Nemo is a stunning side-scrolling action-adventure based on the classic Japanese-American animated film, Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland. While many retro gamers are familiar with the NES adaptation, this arcade original is a distinct, high-energy masterpiece featuring simultaneous two-player cooperative play. The narrative follows Nemo and the mischievous, cigar-chomping Flip as they journey into surreal Dream Worlds, summoned by Princess Camille to rescue King Morpheus from the Nightmare King. This rare cabinet showcased Capcom's signature 16-bit visual prowess, featuring lush sprite work, detailed parallax scrolling, and a whimsical orchestral soundtrack.

Gameplay Features & Mechanics

The game masterfully blends precision platforming with arcade beat-'em-up combat across seven beautifully animated stages, including the Toy House and the Cloud Ruins. Nemo wields a magical morning-star scepter that fires star-shaped projectiles, while Flip attacks with a heavy mallet and throws explosive bombs. Mechanics emphasize fluid movement; characters can run, perform sliding tackles to dodge hazards, and execute high-flying jumps. Unlike the NES version, there is no animal-feeding mechanic; instead, players focus on fast-paced combat, collecting dream keys to unlock progression gates, and gathering crystal stars to power up a devastating, screen-clearing magical spell. Double-tapping directional keys triggers a sprint to escape dangerous situations.
