Description
Street Fighter: The Movie was produced by Capcom/Incredible Technologies in 1995.
Street Fighter: The Movie (originally planned to be Street Fighter III during early development) is based on the 1994 live-action Street Fighter movie and uses digitized images of the film’s cast. While a game of the same name was released for the PlayStation and Sega Saturn, it is not a port but a separately produced game based on the same movie. The arcade version of Street Fighter: The Movie differs from the previous Street Fighter II games in several ways: the game gives a greater emphasis towards air combos or “juggling” than previous games. The player can continuously attack their opponent while they’re falling in the air with a series of attacks. Additionally, players can cancel any Special Move while performing it into another Special Move. This can even be done with projectile attacks.

Overview & History
Released in coin-ops by Incredible Technologies and Midway in 1995, Street Fighter: The Movie is a fascinating anomaly in the fighting game canon. Rather than utilizing Capcom's proprietary CPS-2 hardware, this arcade iteration was built on a modified Sega Titan Video (ST-V) board and famously eschewed traditional hand-drawn sprites in favor of digitized actors. Captured directly from the live-action Hollywood adaptation starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Raul Julia, the game features real-actor motion capture. However, because Van Damme was unavailable for the sprite shoots, stunt double Chris Casamassa stepped in for Guile, creating an uncanny valley of martial arts cinema and arcade pugilism. While the home console ports developed by Capcom for the PlayStation and Sega Saturn were heavily criticized for straying into traditional Super Street Fighter II Turbo territory, the arcade original remained a unique, digitized fighter powered by modified *Mortal Kombat*-style aesthetics layered over Capcom's six-button engine.Gameplay Features & Mechanics
Unlike its Capcom-developed stablemates, Street Fighter: The Movie trades fluid hand-drawn animation for digitized grit, boasting a frantic combo system, a unique "Super Combo" meter, and aggressive pacing. Players can select from iconic World Warriors—including Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, and Blanka—alongside movie-exclusive characters like Sawada and Blade. The combat engine introduces cancellable normal attacks, air juggles, and special moves tailored to the digitized sprites, such as Guile's Sonic Boom and M. Bison's Psycho Crusher. The arcade cabinet is infamous for its digitized blood options and fatal-style finishing moves known as "Critical Junctions." The presentation features direct digitized voice clips and digitized stages modeled directly after the film's sets, such as Bison's warroom and the bustling Shadaloo slums.
