Fire & Forget II

Overview & History

Released by Titus Software in 1990 for the Sega Master System, Fire & Forget II: The Death Convoy is a frantic pseudo-3D vehicular combat sequel that throws players into a dystopian, post-nuclear future. Tasked with piloting the "Thunder Master II"—a heavily armed, transformation-capable futuristic car—your primary mission is to intercept and obliterate the heavily armored death convoy of the terrorist organization Terror. Unlike its top-down predecessor, this Master System adaptation shifts perspective to an aggressive behind-the-vehicle viewpoint, delivering blistering arcade-style action as you race across scorched earth, desert canyons, and metallic highway fortresses while dodging relentless enemy fire, barricades, and flying drones.

Gameplay Features & Mechanics

The game is split into distinct stages that test both driving reflexes and offensive prowess. Your vehicle can seamlessly transition between ground-based driving and brief flight segments, allowing you to leap over impassable chasms and hostile road barriers. Offensively, you are equipped with a dual setup: a rapid-fire energy cannon capable of chewing through standard infantry and light barriers, and a limited supply of lock-on heat-seeking missiles designed to obliterate heavily armored bosses and flying units. Resource management is crucial, as fuel and missile reserves constantly dwindle, forcing players to scoop up essential power-ups scattered across the devastated highways. The difficulty curve is notoriously brutal, demanding absolute precision and memorization of enemy spawn patterns to survive the final showdown against the ultimate mobile fortress.

  • Arrow Keys / D-Pad: Steer the vehicle left/right and accelerate/brake
  • Action Keys: Fire primary cannon (Button 1) / Launch heat-seeking missiles (Button 2) / Jump or fly over obstacles
