Description

After many frustrating years, scientists have finally made contact with biengs from another planet.

That’s the good news.

The bad news is that these aliens are bent on conquering the galaxy one planet at a time.
After discorering the existence of the Earth, the aliens send troops to our world in the hope of enslaving it.

These soldiers are determined to reach the surface of our planet, and if they succeed, the human race is doomed.
Fortunately, the people of Earth are prepared for this assault,
building protective barriers over key military outposts and manufacturing powerful mobile cannons known as “bases”.

The bases are our best defense against the invaders, -but beware…

The enemy won’t quit until they’ve won, and they’ll destroy everything that stands in their way…

– And that’s also including you !.

The Rainbow effect…

If the final aliens you kill are in the bottom 2 rows, you get a fireworks display and 500 bonus points.
If it happens to be the bottom, left-most alien, you get fireworks and a 1,000 point bonus.

Space Invasion

Overview & History

Released in 1982 by Coleco for their powerful second-generation home console, Space Invasion emerged during the golden age of arcade conversions. While heavily inspired by the pervasive cosmic shoot-'em-up craze ignited by Taito's Space Invaders, Coleco’s adaptation sought to carve out its own identity by harnessing the ColecoVision's superior graphic capabilities. The storyline is a desperate, quintessential sci-fi struggle: humanity's last remaining star-fighter must intercept an incoming armada of pixelated alien lifeforms before they breach Earth's atmospheric shield. Unlike typical ports of the era, this version introduced heightened audio-visual polish, distinct alien metamorphosis mechanics at higher difficulty tiers, and a frantic pacing that made it a standout cartridge in the system's early library.

Gameplay Features & Mechanics

The core gameplay revolves around eradicating waves of descending extraterrestrials while ducking behind crumbling defensive bunkers that slowly disintegrate under heavy crossfire. As players decimate the armada, the remaining alien ships accelerate dramatically, testing human reflex limits. The protagonist's ship possesses horizontal movement exclusively along the bottom of the screen, armed with a single-shot laser cannon. Players must time their shots carefully, as holding down the fire button is restricted, adding tactical depth to every trigger pull. Mystery flying saucers occasionally streak across the top stratosphere, offering bonus points for precision snipers willing to abandon the main defensive line.
