Part survivor, part architect, part nuts, Frostbite Bailey eats raw fish for sustenance but really dines on danger! Help him construct igloos by jumping on floating blocks of ice! Each igloo must be completed before the weather gets too cold, but this is certainly no easy task, as Frostbite must not only contend with water currents that make the ice blocks move in different directions, he must also avoid wild animals like snow geese, king crabs, killer clams and a bear that follows him like a shadow on the shore! Stay one step ahead of all the hazards and survive to reach the highest possible score!

Released in 1983 by Activision and programmed by Steve Cartwright, *Frostbite* stands as one of the most mechanically inventive titles in the ColecoVision library. Diverging from the era's standard space shooters, this charming yet frantic platformer challenges players to aid an intrepid fisherman named Frostbite Bailey. Your ultimate mission is to construct a series of multi-colored igloos by leaping across hazardous drifting ice floes before the biting Arctic night consumes your body heat.

Gameplay Features & Mechanics

Gameplay unfolds across a single-screen, multi-tiered aquatic grid. Bailey must hop frantically between horizontal rows of ice blocks that scroll left and right at varying speeds. The primary objective is to slide across the top and bottom of these blocks to rotate their random pixel patterns, snapping the segments together like puzzle pieces to complete the igloo. Hazards are relentless: rogue polar bears, aggressive clams, deadly snow geese, and stealthy Alaskan king crabs patrol the ice. Touching any of these fauna—or dipping into the freezing water for too long—results in the immediate loss of a life. To aid your survival, magical magic felines occasionally cross the screen; catching them triggers a bonus round where floating fish can be collected for extra points.
